Catalytic CO2 transformation
Catalytic CO2 transformation
Can we close the carbon cycle by transforming CO2 rich streams into valuable synthetic fuels and chemicals?
We explore innovative catalytic pathways to valorise carbon dioxide, mitigating its impact on climate change while producing next-generation syngas and energy carriers. Our group engineers novel nanoshaped materials to lower the activation barriers for CO and CH splitting. By carefully tuning metal-support interactions and oxygen vacancy dynamics, we overcome traditional challenges like coking and thermal sintering. Furthermore, structured catalysts in the form of 3D-printed monoliths can support operation under higher operating pressures than catalysts in powder form. This results in highly stable, carbon-resistant materials ideal for chemical looping and high-rate CO2 transformation reactions.
